The project by the studio LMU Arkitektura for the Muxikebarri cultural centre in Bizkaya includes an auditorium, a performing arts centre, various multi-function spaces and the Getxo municipal music school.
The design is based on a construction made up of two different buildings, joined by a unique personality (marked by the façade using VIGAM, oak glulam beams) and by the physical connection through the subsoil.
Once inside, the warmth is multiplied thanks to the different applications of the ALIGAM edge-glued panels, which provide elegance, naturalness, robustness, and a welcoming finish, ideal to share culture and social events to enjoy in company.
The Muxikebarri project was one of the five nominated finalists of the Architizer Awards 2020 in the category “Best cultural centre/theatre”.
