The architects working on the Barcelona offices of the pharmaceutical company Roche based the design of the façade for one of the new buildings on the concept of a shade house. The Real Academia de la Lengua Española defines "umbráculo" as a site covered in branches or other material that lets air through, to protect plants from the strength of the sun.
What is protected in this building is its energy efficiency and self-supply, goals to which the acetylated wood of the façade contributes. ACCOYA® is a sustainable, durable wood, practically invincible in exteriors, with a 50-year written guarantee.
