Mirador da Cova
ACCOYA® sustainable wood is the material selected for this project that makes it possible to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Miño riverside
This observation deck in the Parroquia da Cova (O Saviñao, Lugo), on the Ribeira Sacra rises above one of the most impressive riverbank areas of the Miño. Looking over it is to enjoy O Cabo do Mundo, possibly the legendary river’s most spectacular meander.
The project commissioned to Arrokabe Architects sought to enhance the experience of enjoying the landscape by blending the observation deck into nature. The starting point was to integrate with the surrounding area and protect the environment.
Therefore, it needed a sustainable design that would be protected with the best building techniques and the materials that most respect nature. This is why they chose ACCOYA® acetylated wood.
ACCOYA®. Natural innovation for exteriors
ACCOYA® wood is the perfect accomplice for sustainable architecture. Its durability and dimensional stability are achieved with clean technology, without biocides. Altering the molecular structure of the wood with an acetylation process achieves a beautiful, natural material that is very resistant in exteriors.
This cellular modification, obtained without any type of toxin, also prevents attack by moulds and insects, as they do not recognise ACCOYA® sustainable wood as food. It is a material that is so resistant that it has a 50-year guarantee.
