The Nuevo Edificio Norteña, in the Madrid district of Legazpi, was constructed in 1967. More than fifty years later, its refurbishment project has taken into account not only an adaptation to the new uses of the property, but also its integration as part of the surrounding area, whose concept has also been changing throughout this time.
The area, near the Madrid-Río axis and active Matadero cultural centre, has taken on a busy, creative and sustainable nature, far from its original industrial focus. The architects have borne witness to this ecological urban planning vocation and have given prominence to sustainable wood in the presentation of the building, in other words, the façade, and also as a transition inward from the hall.
Choosing ACCOYA® acetylated wood aims to bring aesthetic warmth and natural sensations to the assembly, while prolonging the useful life of the building. With its durability and dimensional stability (ACCOYA® has a 50-year guarantee), this material is a strong ally in achieving higher levels of efficiency and sustainability.
