This spectacular project by the studio LMU Arkitektura from Alava is the second largest cultural centre in Bizkaia, and includes an auditorium, music school, performing arts centre and various multi-function spaces.
This modern, asymmetric and fully functional building is in reality composed of two independent volumes, connected aesthetically on the surface and physically via the subsoil.
The façade of Muxikebarri makes it instantly recognisable, due to its oak glulam slats with the CE marking for structural use (VIGAM). Its sustainable wooden skin gives the construction its own personality with diverse facets depending on your viewpoint or even the time of day: coloured stains, suggestive interiors, effects of light and shade...
Inside the cultural centre, oak is also the protagonist with the presence of the ALIGAM edge-glued panels.
